The original really focuses on the noirish atmosphere of cyberpunk. I read somewhere that the look of the series was inspired by Bladerunner. Of course there are cyborgs, so that one could really be both. I've been meaning to get my hands on Bubblegum Crisis forever. Too many good things out there.
